Shrimp are sold by the count or number of shrimp per pound. For example, 41/50 count means that 41 to 50 shrimp come in every pound. The smaller the count, the larger the size of shrimp: for example, 41/50's are larger than 51/60's. Sizes are sometimes expressed as names instead of numbers (e.g., large), but look beyond description to the count for the best size indicator. Ranges are created to allow for some variances within catches. However, the total number of shrimp you receive should always fall within the stated counts.
Our main products are farm raised-caught shrimp in various presentations, such as: headless, head-on, P&D, PUD, ez-peel, peel pull vein, butterfly, bround. Lobster in two presentarions: whole or tails.
When applied to peeled and/or cooked shrimp, counts can often be confusing. The rule of thumb is that shrimp lose one size when peeled, and another size when cooked. When purchasing shrimp, be certain that the number per pound refers to the "finished count" and not the "from count" or raw count, which is the size of shrimp before processing. All of Superior® and Natures Harvest® brand products are graded and sized after processing, so you get a true and real count.
Pieces and Broken Tails - We are careful to eliminate any broken shrimp and broken tails on our valued added products through our quality control monitoring and inspections. Partial pieces of shrimp can lower the product value
